After moving back to Ohio from California in 2019, my dreams of opening the doors of the Lumberton restaurant were stronger than ever.
I met my husband, Sam, while living in San Francisco. I would tell him stories of home and about my dreams of reopening the 68 Family Restaurant that my grandfather, Hiram Bledsoe, used to own. I somehow talked him into moving back with me and, after seeing the abandoned restaurant for himself, my dream became his too. With over 25 years in the restaurant industry, Sam saw the potential and value in creating something great for the community in the North Clinton County area.
In 2020, a couple great fellas bought the building and, after a few chats and some strong handshakes, work towards opening the Lumberton General Store was underway.
We can’t wait for our neighbors, the community, and travelers to see the amazing transformation and all the incredible work that’s gone into making the building come alive once again.
I am grateful everyday that our dream of opening the doors is coming true and that stories of the little blue Lumberton restaurant will continue to live on in its new form!
